Do You Suffer from the Curse of an Attraction to Older Gay Men?

The Curse of an Attraction to Older Gay Men:

Daddy issues, money, or perfectly natural?

Having spoken with several other men who have age disparities in their attractions and relationships, I decided to write about it for Psychology Today. Apparently the topic isn't discussed very much-even within the gay community-as this essay really took off after I posted it.

The Inhumane Practice of Conversion Therapy

I have a close relative who went through what has been called "conversion therapy," a treatment designed to make a gay person straight. Not only was his treatment not "successful," it proved to be rather damaging. This has led to several states banning the practice, and even though it is generally condemned by organizations of professional mental health practitioners, it continues to be available and to promise more than it can ever deliver. Recently, Canadians began rallying behind a petition to ban the practice .

Why Is the Current Administration Trying to Erase Transgender People?

In my previous practice, our clinic offered gender transitioning treatment for transgender men and women. Their stories are often heartbreaking, and the highest incidence of violence toward members of the LGBTQ community is directed at our trans brothers and sisters. Now the current administration is simply to trying to legislate them out of existence .

Is America's Brand of Christianity Unchristian?

I don't often write about religion. I was raised Lutheran, and I left the church because I simply could no longer deal with my confusion by skipping over words in the Apostles' Creed, the statement of "This I believe" defined by Martin Luther. John Pavlovitz is an evangelical minister whose writings I admire a great deal. I subscribe to his newsletter and have pre-ordered his new book, Hope and Other Superpowers: A Life-Affirming, Love-Defending, Butt-Kicking, World-Saving Manifesto.

In this essay he describes how he believes the evangelical church has gone off the rails in equating Christianity and nationalism.
